Chemical Engineer, expert in lubricating oil identification. The Floyd L. Carnahan Papers consist of correspondence, clippings, pamphlets, and other materials. Subjects include Dr. Carnahan's career at Penn State both as an undergraduate and as a professor; his work at the Petroleum Refining Laboratory; and at the State Registration Board of Professional Engineers. Also his activity as a civil defense warden during World War II and the role of the petroleum industry during the war. Frequent correspondents include F. C. Whitmore, M. R. Fenske, D. S. Cryder, and C. I. Noll. Also available is an oral history interview, with Dr. Carnahan conducted August 20, 1979 by Dr. Michael Bezilla as part of the College of Engineering Oral History Collection.
